Friends Of The Dias Museum

Get Involved

The Dias Museum is one of only a few museums in the country that can boast with a Friends society. The Friends are there to help the Dias Museum, which is a provincial museum, to organise interesting events, meetings, gatherings and exhibitions. Apart from the fun element, it also exposes the museum and its offerings to the uninitiated. However, Covid-19 has thrown a huge spoke in this wheel for more than a year. Indoor gatherings were limited to 50 pax, which maked it difficult to organise any function.

In the past very successful flower shows, music evenings, community events and other performances were on the cards. Hopefully the Friends will soon again be in the position to offer these events to its members.

If your community is important to you and you want to reach out, become a member of the Friends. To subscribe/join contact the museum on 044 691 1067 and ask for Brigitte, Cornelia or Janette. Or fill in the form on the website and make EFT payment to the Association of friends of the Bartolomeu Dais Museum, Nedbank account number 1689045442, branch code 198 765. You can also pop into the museum and pay your membership fee at reception.

The present committee of the Friends of the Dias Museum was elected in 2019 after a very special AGM which was attended by a record number of friends.

The committee plan on putting the fun back into the museum and they invite the public to become involved and to join the Friends at only R10 per annum.

The Committee
Denise Lloyd (Chairman & Representative on the Management Committee); Cobus van Rensburg (Vice); Marlè Munro (Secretary); Hans Bosch (Constitution); David Clayphan (Fundraising); Jan Maritz (Marketing); Brigitte von Schutz (Museum Representative/Scribe); Mbulelo Mrubata (Museum Manager); Hein Bottom (Finance)
